Types of Water Systems Video Series
Rural water is very diverse in Alberta, and our member water co-operatives display this concept to the fullest.
In 2025 we had a chance to document some of the types of rural water systems found across the province and within our membership in a short video series. Please find the videos here for your viewing.
Series Description:
Where does your water actually come from? In this series, we go behind the scenes of rural Alberta's water systems to explore how communities across the province access safe, reliable drinking water from deep groundwater aquifers to rivers, lakes, purchased city water, and everything in between.
Each episode breaks down a different type of water system, the treatment technology behind it, and the dedicated professionals who keep it running every day.
In This Series:
-High-quality groundwater systems and Alberta's unique geology
-Groundwater Under the Direct Influence (GUDI) and advanced treatment
-Regional water and purchased water systems
-Surface water treatment from lakes and rivers to your tap
Whether you're a water professional, a municipal leader, or simply curious about where your water comes from, this series is for you.
