Showing Up, Every Time: The Harvey Schnee Impactful Service Recognition
True dedication means showing up consistently, doing what needs to be done and making everything around you run more smoothly. The Harvey Schnee Impactful Service Recognition was created to celebrate that kind of contribution.
Named after Water Federation founding director Harvey Schnee from Conquerville Water Co-op, this recognition honours individuals who deliver dependable, high-quality service in support of their water co-op and larger water access initiatives. Harvey was known across southern Alberta for joining as many boards as possible and offering practical, hands-on assistance wherever he was involved, driven by a commitment to service rather than recognition.
"Harvey Schnee was known across southern Alberta for quietly showing up and giving his time wherever it was needed. Suzanne embodies that same commitment to dependable, hands-on service,” said Water Federation Executive Director Chris Hancock.
This year, one individual was recognised at the Water Federation AGM in April for her meaningful and lasting contributions.
2026 Recipient
Suzanne Furlong, Milk River East Water Co-op
Since becoming Secretary in 2023, Suzanne has strengthened how Milk River East operates. She digitised more than 20 years of records, secured easements and improved financial systems. Her proactive approach and willingness to take on whatever needs doing make her an invaluable part of the co-op and reflect the steady, hands-on spirit Harvey Schnee brought to every organisation he served. To honour her contributions, she was presented with a piece from Albertan artist Joanne Madeley. The Water Federation thanks Suzanne for her dedication.
